To help reduce server bandwidth and help smooth out the user experience, we’ve installed a plugin called “CraftProxy”. CraftProxy is a plugin that allows the user to cache some chunks locally (save them on their computer) so then, while playing Minecraft, if that chunk needs to be loaded again, the game will load them from the users computer rather then from the server. This makes chunks load faster for the user, and it reduces both server-side and client-side internet bandwidth usage. You will need to follow these instructions and install CraftProxy to get a reserved slot on our server.
Starting Craft Proxy if already installed:
- CraftProxy MUST be started every time before joining our servers or you will not be able to connect. To do this, simply double-click on the “CraftProxyLiter.jar”, make sure the info is correct. Then, press Start.
- Launch “Minecraft” like normal and join our server with the information provided in the original setup below.
CraftProxy Client (That’s you, the player) Installation:
After you’ve completed these steps, email jamespetersenwa@gmail.com or contact WarOfLiberty on the server and let us know. In an email, Please provide your in-game name so we can correctly update your account.
- Create a folder on your Desktop. Title it “CraftProxy” or whatever you’d like.
- Download CraftProxyLiter.jar from here and place it in the folder you just created (WARNING: attempting to run CraftProxy from the original download folder may result in it not working).
- Double-click on the CraftProxyLiter.jar file and it should open a window that looks like this:
- Now, fill in the box that says “Name” under “Remote Server”, like this:
- Press the “Start” button. Notice how under “Status” now it says that the server has started and has connected. It should look like this:
Note: If for some reason, it did nothing when you pressed start, make sure that CraftProxyLiter.jar isn’t already running, and that you’ve placed the file on the desktop as stated in the previous steps. YOU MUST START CRAFTPROXY EVERY TIME YOU WISH TO JOIN OUR SERVER. ALSO, PLEASE BE CAREFUL AS TO NOT SHUT DOWN CRAFTPROXY WHILE PLAYING ON THE SERVER OR YOU WILL BE DISCONNECTED.
- Now, start Minecraft like normal and click Multiplayer. Delete any previous instances of our server. If it says mc.thevideogameaddict.com anywhere in your saved Multiplayer servers, please delete it.
- After that, click “Add server” and fill it out like follows. You can have the “Server Name” as whatever you want, but the “Server Address MUST be like in the picture or you will not be able to connect:
- Click “Done”. If all went as planned, you should have a screen like this:
- Click “Join Server” and have fun!
